Georgetown Morgue is Seattle's premier haunted house — a facility for tragic stories of death, staged inside a real former Seattle city morgue at 5000 E. Marginal Way S in Georgetown. Built in 1928 as Kolling Mortuary Services, the building became a 100-body-a-day crematorium under the Broughton Brothers before the City of Seattle took it over as a public morgue in 1969, operating until 1983. Its history is as dark as its walls: a jazz trumpeter's body vanished from the prep room in 1947 only to turn up dismembered across town, a 1965 earthquake collapsed one of its two 110-foot crematorium smokestacks and killed the owner, and on October 25, 1968, all nine employees on shift vanished into the crematorium chambers in a still-unsolved mass killing. That real history is the foundation for a fully immersive, Hollywood-level haunted walk-through — intense scares, strobe lighting, fog, loud sound design and sudden movements, performed under a strict no-touch policy. Recommended for guests 12 and older; not recommended for pregnant guests or anyone with asthma, heart conditions, seizure disorders, or other conditions that could be aggravated by intense scares, flashing lights, or fog. Free parking is available across the street, portable restrooms are on site, emergency exits are placed every 15 feet, and Seattle Police officers are present on-site every operating night. Open rain or shine — the line keeps moving, and wait times run longer on Friday and Saturday nights. No masks, costumes, weapons, alcohol, flash photography, or recording devices permitted.
